How To Become A Volunter
Your tasks will vary and might include cleaning enclosures, feeding, grooming, and providing round-the-clock care for juvenile or injured animals, as well as assisting with veterinary check-ups or outcalls to pick-up found or confiscated animals.
Beyond animal care, you can also help maintain our permaculture-based tropical food forest, where the lush, abundant environment offers plenty of opportunities to develop your skills in agriculture and gardening.
Other activities include maintaining the terrain, assisting with construction projects, cooking, and general camp maintenance.
For those who want to explore more, there are night excursions to spot wildlife, where you might encounter a fascinating variety of frogs, a variety of mammals, reptiles, bats, birds, and insects.
You can also engage with Matthijs in his wildlife photography work, aimed at documenting the diverse animal species of Suriname.
You’ll be working around 5 hours a day, five days a week, with two days off to relax, explore, or continue discovering the wonders of Suriname.
We’re looking for passionate individuals who share our love for wildlife and/or gardening. Ideal candidates should be comfortable with physical tasks and adaptable to the tropical rainforest climate of Suriname.
We speak Dutch, English, German, French and Spanish.
Having up-to-date tetanus vaccinations is required for your own safety.

You work aprox. 5 hours a day. With 2 days off every week.
We take trips to shops/markets several times a week.
The Suriname river can be found relatively close by and we have all the contacts in case you want to make a tour to Brownsberg, Seliba, Waterfall Rock climbing,Dolphin tours, Peperpot or any other idea you might have we can help you.
The multicultural capital city of Paramaribo is a 30 minute drive away.
Sleep in our hammock camp for the full immersion experience, be woken by the monkeys, fall asleep by the cicades and the tree frogs.
Or in the near future in one of the volunteer houses which we are currently constructing.
We offer on-site accommodation, complete with WiFi, to ensure you stay connected.
Upon arrival, we can arrange your airport transfer (paid service) so your journey is smooth and stress-free.
During your stay, you’ll enjoy three meals a day. If you have any specific dietary needs, just let us know in advance, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.
