Our animal family at the Suriname Wildlife Sanctuary is growing every day. Hundreds of animals are received each year, many of them victims of traffic, trafficking or hunting; others are orphaned babies who require constant care and attention over long periods of time.
Each animal rehabilitated in the rescue center, comes with a large expense, which can at times be difficult for us to cover. Depending on the species and the animal, the cost of feeding, veterinary treatments, medical supplies and construction of enclosures can quickly add up.

Once you have chosen your animal and we have received your payment we will send you an email asking you for the name to put on the certificate.
Red and Yellow-footed tortoises are the seed dispensers of the rainforest.
Sadly these harmless giant, vegetarians are widely eaten, crushed by cars and perish in bush fires. We at the Suriname Wildlife Sanctuary have large groups of both species. Keeping our grass short and enjoying life in a protected environment.
